Welcome! My name is Mara June. I’m an educator, facilitator, community weaver, writer, caregiver, death doula, and community herbalist. I’m excited about plant magic, story-telling, art making, shapeshifting, and dreaming together.

My death and grief care work is community oriented, taking place in group settings in hopes of helping to weave deeply attuned and resourced communities who love, care, dream, and create courageously in times of change and grief.

Grief Magic self paced study

For those who were unable to join before the cohort based version of the course filled, I’ve opened a self paced study option for the course!

The self paced study is a great option for you if…

  • You want to find ways to link your creative practice and grief process

  • You are interested in grounding your creative, magical, and grief support practices in the seasons

  • You are looking to hunker down with resources, rituals, and your creative process on your own, rather than participate in the community or collaborative aspects of the course

  • You’re not really a zoom or online calls person

  • You want to move through materials at your own pace

 

What’s included

Each season*, you’ll receive:

  • An audio recording and PDF summary handout of seasonal/ ecological stories and inspiration for grief and creative process

  • Recordings of all bonus workshops and studios with guest instructors

  • A PDF of with creative prompts drawing inspiration from each season

  • A PDF guide to a grief ritual or practice inspired by the season

  • A PDF list of additional resources

  • Access to a discord specifically for other slow study participants

*There are 6 seasons included in the course, beginning in April 2024 and moving through March 2025 - see the main course page for a more detailed outline of seasonal themes and bonus workshops (though note that there are no live or recorded zoom sessions for the self paced study besides the recorded bonus workshops!)

FAQ

  • Yes. You can sign up anytime. Grief Magic course materials will start being distributed in April 2024, so if you enroll after that, you will receive access to all previously released materials, in addition to materials that will be regularly released for the remaining duration of the course (through March 2025). Your automatic monthly payments will begin when you enroll and continue for 12 months - even if this doesn’t line up with when the course materials are released.

  • Yes. While refunds for prior months are unavailable, you can cancel your remaining subscription at any time. You will continue to have access to materials released during those months you’ve already paid for. That said, please note: materials are released seasonally and not every month!

  • You will receive downloadable course materials by email each season, as they are released throughout the year.

  • You will receive them as downloadable files, so you will have lifetime access.

I’ve been trying to write, but I haven’t been able to. There are either no words or far too many. There seems to be a turning towards grief workers - a collective searching for someone who knows “how do we handle this (witnessing a genocide)?”

This season reminds us that staying soft and feeling our grief for the world is a radical act. There is much unraveling of oppressive systems that this grief can do. This season invites us to be transformed by our grief, together, even and especially if we don’t know how. We get to reach for each other.

This liminal season invites us to straddle both realms: to do both the sacred and mundane magic necessary to create sanctuary along our shorelines, edges, and ruptures, to bring softness into those places and moments where we feel impossibly stretched and lost, in those spaces between breaths, when the next isn’t always certain– when we remember that the unknown is an essential part of ourselves and the universe.
